The General Assembly in May was held in the General Assembly Hall on the Mound in Edinburgh.
Members of the International Presbytery are part taking as Commissioners to the General Assembly. Consisting of ministers, elders or members of the diaconate. This year our Revd. Kim Hurst and the Presbytery Elder Christa Wiegand were travelling to Edinburgh.
The Right Reverend Susan Brown used to be with us at the International Presbytery. This year she was appointed as Moderator. The first time that a female Minister was choosen for this role.
Considered the highest court of the Church, the General Assembly meets in May each year for a week. The other courts in the Church are the kirk session and the presbytery.
The first General Assembly was held in December 1560, which was the year of the Scottish Reformation and which marks the beginning of the Church of Scotland as we now know it.
