Malta Microfinance
This charity was established as part of our "Out of Africa - into Malta" project.
It is a financial institution owned by St. Andrew’s, licensed and regulated by Malta Financial Services Authority.
The company lends to the people in crisis situations. In particular Maltese women and also refugees to transform their lives.
Our loans are repayable over twelve months. The first repayment will be due after a two months greace period from the day loan is given out.
An up-front fee of 10% (APR 18.6%) is required. No interest rate is applicable.
The scheme includes education-, business-, rent- and personal loans to help through temporary crisis.
The loan maximum is €2,500.
However, all loans must be repaid so the borrower has to demonstrate how they will afford to meet the repayments. We lend to solidarity groups of two to four members who support each other and maintain contact with us over the life of the loan.
MMF is based in the International Centre, underneath the
church at 212 Old Bakery Street.
